Self-installed Senomix Timesheets v2.82 has reached its end of life for support.

As described in the Senomix End of Life page, no further software updates or technical assistance are being provided for self-installed Senomix versions at v2.82 and earlier.

If your office is still using a legacy self-installed version of Senomix Timesheets which has now reached its end of life for support, you can find further information on the options available for updating your system through the Senomix End of Life page.

We've added a 'Send Welcome Email' button to your user administration screen.

That button allows you to deliver all connection details (with the exception of the password) to your new system users, providing a simple welcome package to help bring your new staff members on-board.

We've simplified the sending of timesheet reminders from hosted plans.

If you would like to have reminders for completing weekly timesheets sent to your employees at the week's end, just toggle that option on through your Admin application's settings screen. The contents of the email itself can be changed in your Admin app's Email Reminders screen.

We've added interactive tutorial lessons to the time entry and administration apps, simplifying your training for new Senomix users.

The tutorial lessons will be displayed on a user's first system sign-in, and are also available at any time through your app About screens.

December 22nd, 2014

We've added previous / next buttons to the Senomix version 5.1 timesheet entry screen. This allows you and your staff to easily switch between timesheet weeks in the time and expense entry app without needing to reference your timesheet list.

These improvements are available for immediate use on Mac and Windows for both hosted and self-installed plans.

For details on this new option, just click the "Help" button at the top-right corner of your timesheet entry screen.

December 8th, 2014

We've added a report review screen to Senomix version 5.1, improving the display and review of time and expense reports, simplifying integration with Microsoft Excel, and streamlining the creation of data exports for use with third-party applications (such as QuickBooks and Peachtree).

These improvements are available for immediate use on Mac and Windows for both hosted and self-installed plans.

We've released Senomix version 5.1, adding data visualization capabilities with interactive charts for time and expense entry on Mac and Windows for both hosted and self-installed plans.

Highlights of this new application version include:

  • Drilldown pie charts can now be created to visualize the time, expense and billing data contained in your office's Senomix system. Data can be examined at a macro level to gain a full overview of office activity, or be drilled down to view the task-level detail of your office work.
  • Area charts can now be created to review effort and billing data over a time series, complementing the project and employee effort reports used by your office.
  • Created charts can be saved as png, jpg or pdf for inclusion in offline presentations and reports.
  • Created charts can be set to have a coloured shading for more visually direct presentation content, with pie charts also able to be created with a 3D orientation.
  • Providing a one-click transition from time entry to administration, a 'System Admin' button is now available to users with administrative access rights through the Management menu of their time entry app.

Much like the 'Heartbleed' bug, the CVE-2014-6271 (Shellshock) Bash vulnerability announced today will likely become front page news in the coming weeks.

All Senomix systems and services were patched for that vulnerability soon after the fix became available, and no Senomix customer data or applications were impacted by the issue.

No steps are required by you or your office to secure your Senomix accounts from that bug.

We've added administration and reports functionality to the Senomix Timesheets web portal, providing a browser-based application for system administration and report creation on Mac and Windows.

As with the time and expense entry web portal provided in November 2013, this new application version now adds to your system administration:

  • Streamlined report creation and record review, with revised screens for timesheet and expense claim reports making it even easier to turn your time and expense tracking data into actionable information.
  • Projects, Activities and Tasks can now be selected for your administrative use from a single window, with in-list search allowing for rapid selection of the items you need, regardless of the number you have to choose from.
  • In-application context-sensitive help can now be accessed at any time by clicking the "Help" button provided on each screen of your administration and reports applications.
  • Improved system speed and communications, with HTML5 WebSocket technology ensuring a rapid link to your system server whether you're working in the next office or on the other side of the world.
  • Compatibility with the Google Chrome, Firefox, Mac Safari and Internet Explorer (version 10 or later) web browsers allows you to work with the platform you prefer best, with inter-operability between Windows and Mac OS X computers providing continued multi-platform support.

The Heartbleed bug is a security vulnerability which has become front page news. This note is a quick update on that bug and how it affects your office's Senomix account or self-installed system.

In brief: We have completed an extensive audit of all systems, and no customer data or applications were impacted by Heartbleed. Neither hosted Senomix plans nor self installed Senomix systems were affected by the Heartbleed bug, and no steps are required by you to secure your Senomix accounts.

Self-installed versions of Senomix Timesheets do not use Open SSL (the program behind the Heartbleed vulnerability) and the version of Open SSL used by hosted Senomix plans is not among those in which the Heartbleed bug appears. Your office's data remains secure with Senomix.

We've released a web portal for Senomix Timesheets v4.2, providing a browser-based application for time and expense entry on Mac and Windows.

Available for immediate use with all hosted Senomix plans, web portal access has also been provided to all v4.2 self-installed Senomix systems until an equivalent executable package is made available for in-house installation.

Highlights of the new browser-based application include the following:

  • Projects, Activities and Tasks can now be selected for your time and expense tracking from a single window, with in-list search allowing for rapid selection of the items you need, regardless of the number you have to choose from.
  • In-application context-sensitive help can now be accessed at any time by clicking the "Help" button provided on each screen of your time and expense entry application.
  • Improved system speed and communications, with HTML5 WebSocket technology ensuring a rapid link to your system server whether you're working in the next office or on the other side of the world.
  • Compatibility with the Google Chrome, Firefox, Mac Safari and Internet Explorer (version 10 or later) web browsers allows you to work with the platform you prefer best, with inter-operability between Windows and Mac OS X computers providing continued multi-platform support.
  • Hours rounding for timesheet and stopwatch tracked time is now set to round up to the nearest five, ten, fifteen or thirty minutes as your office prefers.
  • One-click sign-in is available for your system through your "Enable Automatic Login" preference.

We've released Senomix Timesheets v4.2, delivering time entry and review to mobile phone and tablet devices such as Apple iPhone and iPad, Android / Samsung phones and tablets, and other handheld platforms.

Both hosted plans and self-installed systems are provided with this new functionality:

  • Mobile system access is now available for Android / Samsung phones and tablets, Apple iPhone and iPad, and other modern mobile devices. Time entry can now be completed on both desktop computers and remote wireless systems, with this new platform functionality available for both hosted plans and self-installed Senomix systems.
  • System sign-in from a second computer or mobile device will now automatically 'bump' any other connections you may have left active on other computers. So, if you have forgotten to sign out your in-office Senomix Timesheets session, you can now connect in from your phone, tablet or home office computer without interruption.
  • Following BlackBerry's transition to their new BlackBerry 10 operating system, the native BlackBerry client for BlackBerry O/S 7 and earlier has now been discontinued. You can now connect in to your Senomix account or self-installed server from your current BlackBerry device using the Senomix Timesheets mobile app.

The hosted version of Senomix Timesheets can now be accessed from the Senomix Timesheets for BlackBerry App.

To connect to your office's Senomix hosting account from your BlackBerry, just install the app and enter your Senomix account details in the provided login screen fields. For example, if your office's Senomix sign-in page was located at www.senomix.com/yourofficename, the value to enter for your Senomix Account when connecting from your BlackBerry would be "yourofficename".

For accessing self-installed systems from the Senomix for BlackBerry app, enter your Senomix Server's IP Address preceded by the text "s:". For example, if your office's self-installed system has an access IP address of 192.0.43.10, you would enter "s:192.0.43.10" as your Senomix Account.

We've released a hosted version of Senomix Timesheets, allowing your office to outsource all server management, application deployment, system update and data backup tasks to Senomix's dedicated server environment in the internet cloud.

Operating with the same features and functionality as the self-installed system first introduced back in 2003, the new hosted version of Senomix Timesheets provides your office with a dedicated server to which your employees can connect regardless of whether they are operating in the same office or at satellite locations around the world. With client applications deployed to employees through a web-page link, the hosted version of Senomix Timesheets reduces the workload of your IT staff by providing a packaged system ready to run without any supervision or system management required.

If you would like to try the hosted version of Senomix Timesheets for yourself, a 30-day free trial can be signed up to for immediate use in less than one minute. If your office already has a self-installed Senomix Timesheets license and you would be interested in moving your data to the new hosted system, please do contact us for assistance in transferring your application data to a hosted server system.

All features provided in the v4.1 release of Senomix Timesheets previously announced on February 6th, 2012 are also available in the new hosted system. That version provided the following new functionality:

  • Expense tracking is now available in the timesheet entry and administration applications, with expense claim entry and associated reports replacing the old expense notes functionality with detailed logging of expenses by expense type, day, and vendor for billable and non-billable items recorded by your office.
  • Projects can now be assigned to your system users, restricting the display of projects in the timesheet entry application to only those which have been assigned.
  • As with previous system versions, a user without any specific project assignments will be able to access all active projects for their system timesheets and expense claims.
  • If projects have been assigned to a user, system reports created in the Reports application will now be restricted to only display information related to the projects to which that report-creating user has been assigned.
  • As with previous system versions, an administrative user creating reports from the Administration application will be able to view all project work, regardless of their project assignments.
  • Employees can now be assigned to be in the scope of responsibility for specific system users (for example, a manager of a group of staff) to allow for timesheet approval and report creation limited to only those assigned users.
  • If users have been assigned to an employee, system reports created in the Reports application will now be restricted to only display information related to those assigned user accounts.
  • As with previous system versions, an administrative user creating reports from the Administration application will be able to view work for all employees, regardless of their user assignments.
  • A managerial user can now approve timesheets for users assigned to them through use of an 'Approve Timesheets' screen provided in the Timesheet Entry application. Administration access rights are no longer necessary for a manager to provide timesheet approval.
  • Expense types can now be specified by your office for the entry of various expense claim items.
  • Vendors can now be specified by your office for association with entered expense claims.
  • Both Vendor and Expense Type items can now be imported from the QuickBooks Vendors and Chart of Accounts.
  • Expense Claims entered in Senomix Timesheets can now be exported to QuickBooks Vendor Bills.
  • Expense Claims can now be reported upon in a direct expense claim listing, with report filters for billing codes, bill state, etc. available for that listing, as with system timesheet reports.
  • Office expenses can now be listed by item in system reports. As with all other new expense reports, the full report data filter functionality provided for system time tracking reports is also available.
  • Office expenses can now be listed by expense type in system reports, providing a consolidated view of the different types (for example, taxes, travel, hotel, meals, etc.) of expenses recorded for your office's work.
  • Office expenses can now be listed by vendor in system reports, allowing you to identify the amounts paid to various suppliers for recorded expenses.
  • A printable expense claim can be created from the timesheet entry application for signature or other purposes which require a physical copy of the claim.
  • Providing an additional safeguard against accidental record deletion, the 'Delete' and 'Delete All' buttons in the Timesheet and Expense Claim Administration screens are now disabled by default. These buttons can be enabled for a user's login session through a new 'enable record deletion' button provided in the Administration application's settings screen.
  • The Timesheet Listing screen of the timesheet entry application will now display all timesheets entered by an employee for all time (rather than just the previous six months of work).
